چکیده

This paper describes a tool for anticipating cultural behavior called, “CulBN.” The tool uses Bayesian belief networks to represent distributions of causal knowledge spread across members of cultural groups. CulBN simulations allow one to anticipate how changes in beliefs affect decisions and actions at the cultural level of analysis. An example case from a study of Afghan decision making is used to illustrate the functionality of the tool.

Comparative study of computer simulation softwares

One of the methods for analyzing systems is simulation. Network simulation is a technique that models the behavior of the network by performing transaction calculations between different network entities and using mathematical formulas and taking observations from network products. A network simulator is a piece of software or hardware that predicts the behavior of a computer network without a ...

Cultural Mixture Modeling: Identifying Cultural Consensus (and Disagreement) using Finite Mixture Modeling

In this paper, we describe a new technique for identifying cultural consensus called Cultural Mixture Modeling (CMM). This technique adopts finite mixture modeling, and introduces a new probabilistic formulation of agreement, which we call the strong consensus model. We use this technique to examine the cultural belief data from Weller (1983; 1984) and social network data from Krackhardt (1987)...

The efficiency of Artificial Neural Network, Neuro-Fuzzy and Multivariate Regression models for runoff and erosion simulation using rainfall simulator

1- INTRODUCTION According to the complexity of environmental factors related to erosion and runoff, correct simulation of these variables find importance under rain intensity domain of watershed areas.  Although modeling of erosion and runoff by Artificial Neural Network and Neuro-Fuzzy based on rainfall-runoff and discharge-sediment models were widely applied by researchers, scrutinizing Arti...

Networks Do Matter: The Socially Motivated Design of a 3D Race Controller Using Cultural Algorithms

This article describes a socially motivated evolutionary algorithm, Cultural Algorithms, to design a controller for a 3D racing game for use in a competitive event held at the 2008 IEEE World Congress. The controller was modeled as a state machine and a set of utility functions were associated with actions performed in each state. Cultural Algorithms are used to optimize these functions. Cultur...
